Mission & Beliefs

First Baptist Church exists to glorify God and make Him known to all people. To accomplish this mission, we are committed to:

Worship - strive to glorify God in our worship

Grow - strive to grow as disciples in community

Share - strive to share Christ through Word and deed

Serve - we want to serve others with Christ's love

First Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. In joining with other churches in the SBC and SBTC, FBC is able to participate in and support missions worldwide.

Core Beliefs

The Bible is the inerrant Word of God and has absolute authority.

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

When Jesus came to earth, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

Jesus is fully God and fully man.

Jesus died, was resurrected, ascended into Heaven and will return to power and glory.

Everyone will face the judgment of Christ. People without Christ will be consigned to hell. People

who have a relationship with Christ will dwell forever in heaven.

Upon genuine conversion, the believer receives the Holy Spirit and is eternally secure.

The local church is called to worship, evangelize, and make disciples.

For a more detailed explanation of our beliefs, see the Baptist Faith and Message.

What about My Children?

During Sunday School, we have classes for all ages from babies to high schoolers. During the Morning Worship Service, the Nursery is available for infants through 3 year olds. Additionally, children who are in fifth grade and below may pick-up a Kids Kit in the foyer for coloring and other activities, as they enter the Morning Worship Service.

Children from 0 - 3 years meet in the Nursery (Building N). Children from 4 years through 5th grade meet on the 2nd floor of the Education Building (Building B). Youth in grades 6-12 enter through Building B to meet in the basement.
